About dr. Grohmann

I am a board-certified clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals across the lifespan – from special operations members and healthcare professionals to students, parents, and retirees. My career has taken me from college counseling centers and hospitals to outpatient clinics, leadership development programs, private practice, and remote camps in Afghanistan, where I served as an Army Officer. These diverse settings have shaped a practice grounded in adaptability, empathy, and evidence-based care.

I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, trauma-related symptoms, grief, relationship challenges, and life transitions – whether that’s starting college, becoming a parent, navigating retirement, coping with medical diagnoses, or stepping into new leadership roles. My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, psychodynamic, and existential frameworks. At times, I incorporate coaching strategies when they align with a client’s goals and context. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy – every person brings a unique story, background, and culture.

Clients often describe me as genuine, trusted, and deeply invested in their growth. I prioritize thorough assessment, collaborative goal-setting, and ongoing review to ensure our work remains aligned and impactful. My aim is always to create a space where people feel seen, supported, and empowered.

I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, completed my clinical internship at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Georgia, and pursued additional training through the Clinical and Operational Psychology Post-Doctoral Residency at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. My time with the special operations community has been one of the most humbling and formative chapters of my career: it has taught me how to support men and women in high-stress, high-stakes environments with attentiveness and compassion. I continue to apply those lessons in every setting I serve.

Outside of work, I’m happiest outdoors – walking through the woods with my wife, son, and dog, or exploring new places. Having grown up in Texas, I am always on the lookout for great barbecue and Tex-Mex.
